I relish the experience of the wax –
painting, heating, scraping – exposing texture and color put down layers ago.
I am an archaeologist, excavating
pieces that unmask my vulnerability –presenting clues that vindicate my journey.
Recently I was told that my paintings are like journeys into different worlds. That it is easy to get lost – that the more you look, the deeper it seems you go, taking you to places both physically and emotionally. Some from memory, others from dreams.
My goal as an artist is to offer a moment of reprieve, a connection, if only for a second, to that place we know exists but so hard to grasp – that place that holds the magic, the love, the healing and the understanding – that place that knows.
